About The Atrium
In 2008 the Government announced a £200m 'Co-location' fund would be available to help put schools at the heart of their communities. The aim was to bring together services for children, families, young people and the local community on single sites ‐ from learning/ education and health, to housing, play facilities and careers advice. North Walsham High School, in partnership with The Benjamin Foundation put in a successful bid in 2009 and were been awarded £5.1m to finance an exciting new project which we hope will bring the community and the school closer together. This is a great achievement as we are one of only 101 projects across England that have been fortunate enough to secure funding.
In collaboration with other organisations The Atrium will provide activities on site and guide enquirers to other organisations and venues. It will run and provide a base for:
-
cultural activities and performances, especially cinema, theatre, dance , visual arts and music .
-
clubs, out of school activities and classes for children and young people
-
continuing education programmes for adults and older people
-
activities for children and their parents to learn together
-
a volunteer hub for people to get involved with community needs
-
offices and consultation rooms for a variety of public and third sector agencies
